memory lane and breaking them into PhotoArchive1 the early
years,
then Photo Archive 2 2000 to 2009,
Photo Archive 3 with 2010 to 2019 and finally with Photo
Archive 4 2020 to Present Day.
If you have any photographs of club activities which you would
like the share, please contact the Webmaster.
These are the oldest photos we have in our collection circa 1967
It seems we were keen on Raft Races and that's our 1967
RadioActive BCC entry. And that's a group of Deptarment of
Civil Aviation trainees.
The group was attending an amateur radio convention at
Alexandra Headlands in either 1967 or 1968.
They carried a Pye Mk III up Mt Tibrogargan, and after all the
effort no contacts were made.
We believe those in the photo are; Mike Willet VK4ZMW, Peter Crewdsen VK4ZPC, Ron Chernich VK4ZRC, Bob Stroud VK4ZSB, a friend of ZDD & Danny Dwyer VK4ZDD, John Perryn VK4ZJP & Graham Bell VK4ZGB
Not sure about the date of this image however records indicate
that we often went as to conventions as a club group. This
image seems to show a happy band back in their room, chatting
about radio, and what they'd learned
Following are photos of the official opening.
The crowd shots show a vibrant club and talented group of
'fathers and sons' who designed and built the shack and the
tower for the club.
Very few names are on the reverse of the photo's so if we have
missed someone's name, we apologise.
Danny Morrish introduces Mr P C Millar MHR Wide Bay, and
invited him to officially open the Repeater Site on 29th
October 1978
Clem Steggink from August 1991 when the local newspaper
reported on his retirment from his watchmaking business after
33 years.
The article told a story of Clem as a young Dutchman, learning
his trade whilst working as slave labour in a German watch
factory during WWII and his emigrating to Australia in 1958.
His Callsign was VK4FD and during his years with the club he
served as Treasurer, President, Vice President and
Secretary.
